Author Biographies

Naomi Hamer

Naomi Hamer is Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Ryerson University (Toronto, Canada). Her current research and publications examine the cross-media adaptation of children’s literature with a focus on picture books, mobile apps, and children’s museums. She is co-editor of More Words about Pictures: CurrentResearch on Picture Books and Visual/Verbal Texts for Young People(eds. Hamer, Nodelman, and Reimer, 2017), and The Routledge Companion to Media and Fairy-Tale Cultures (eds. Greenhill, Rudy, Hamer, and Bosc, forthcoming 2018). She is current President of the Association for Research in the Cultures of Young People and one of the conference organizers for Youngsters 2016 and 2019.

Stuart R. Poyntz

Stuart R. Poyntz is Associate Dean and Associate Professor, School of Communication at Simon Fraser University. His research addresses children’s media cultures, theories of public life, and urban youth media production. He has published three books and articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals, including Popular CultureJournal of Children and MediaCultural StudiesJournal of Youth StudiesReview of EducationPedagogy and Cultural Studies, and Canadian Journal of Education, as well as various edited collections.
