Call for Book Reviewers

2019-04-12

Jeunesse: Young People, Texts, Cultures is calling for academic reviews to be published in our upcoming Special Issue on Borders (Winter 2019). Reviews will be due September 1, 2019.

Specifically, we seek reviews of texts with the following themes, requesting that authors take into consideration the overall issue’s theme of “borders” in their review:

  • Sexuality and Gender
  • (the texts in the thematic categories previously listed are no longer available)

Click "Read more" for the full list of the texts available to review within these thematic categories.

Please send expressions of interest along with a brief statement of disciplinary affiliations and relevant research to jeunesse@uwinnipeg.ca with the subject line “Book Reviews - Borders.”

Jeunesse: Young People, Texts, Cultures is an interdisciplinary, scholar-led, refereed academic journal, the mandate of which is to publish research on and to provide a forum for discussion about cultural productions for, by, and about young people. Our scope is international; while we have a special interest in Canada, we welcome submissions concerning all areas and cultures. We are especially interested in the cultural functions and representations of “the child." This can include children’s and young adult literature and media; young people’s material culture, including toys; digital culture and young people; historical and contemporary constructions, functions, and roles of “the child” and adolescents; and literature, art, and films by children and young adults. We welcome articles in both English and French.

Articles may be submitted directly to this website or as attachments in Word or RTF format to: jeunesse@uwinnipeg.ca.

Alternatively, submit three copies on paper, along with a stamped, self-addressed return envelope, to:

Heather Snell, Editor, Jeunesse
Centre for Research in Young People's Texts and Cultures

All submissions should conform to MLA style and be free of citation software formatting. The name of the author should be removed from the submission and appear on a separate page along with contact information (including phone number and e-mail address) and a 100-word abstract.

Jeunesse has a green open access policy, which means our authors are permitted to place post-print publisher-version PDFs of their articles in their institutional repositories. Our editorials, forums, and reviews are immediately open access.
